BIM Manager

Position summary

Treanor is seeking a dynamic person to join the firm as a BIM Manager. The ideal candidate will have architectural project experience focused on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and will be responsible for providing firmwide and project-level BIM support and leadership. This candidate will function within the Architectural staff and will provide technical support, documentation, training, and development to all Treanor design staff. This position will report to the Director of Technology.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, detail oriented, and customer-focused, and will be able to help take the firm to the next level in efficiency, technical proficiency, and innovation.

The anticipated base salary for candidates meeting the stated requirements is $70,000 – $90,000 and may vary by states we operate in.

Primary responsibilities

Project-specific

  • Assist teams in initial BIM project setup (Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud)
  • Collaborate with project teams in preparation and implementation of BIM Execution Plans and establishment of Level of Development
  • Support BIM project kick-off efforts, including consultant kick-off meetings
  • Configure and train project teams with consultant model coordination
  • Provide BIM application and workflow technical support (Revit, ACC, other applications)
  • Monitor and promote model health and provide troubleshooting, model management, and model maintenance support
  • Act as Autodesk Construction Cloud project and user administrator
  • Perform periodic model QA/QC reviews
  • Provide new user BIM project onboarding and orientation
  • Train design staff in BIM Coordinator/Model Manager duties to become self-sufficient on projects
  • Research and implement opportunities for automation to leverage generative design and promote efficiency (eg. Dynamo, PyRevit, scripting, other)

Firmwide

  • Act as primary point of contact for BIM-related issues (software outages, Revit/ACC desktop support, review/respond to BIM help desk tickets)
  • Maintain company-wide Revit and ACC templates
  • Support markets and studios in development and maintenance of market-specific Revit content (families, type catalogs, detail libraries) and Container Files
  • Curate firmwide BIM content, including managing Autodesk Content Catalog (Unifi)
  • Work with IT to maintain and support Revit software, associated tools and plugins, and updates
  • Work with outside vendors on content download and update to Treanor standards
  • Collaborate with outside consultants on contracted BIM support, training, documentation development, etc.
  • Partner with Visualization Manager to develop and promote workflows for user-generated renderings, animation, and immersive experiences

Standards and documentation

  • Work with market sector champions to establish common firmwide standards, workflows, and best practices
  • Create relevant process documentation

Training

  • Provide task-specific, just-in-time, hands-on training to project teams on an as-needed basis (Revit, ACC, other)
  • Deliver regular firmwide training (in-person and remote) and Q&As on company standards and best practices

Innovation

  • Stay up to date on new and emerging BIM and other design technologies and best practices, and how they can enhance the delivery processes
  • Research, demonstrate, and deploy new technologies as appropriate to advance capabilities of the firm
  • Collaborate with project teams, studios, IT, and leadership on researching and integrating AI with existing design technologies and processes

Management

  • Collaborate with IT department on software licensing and management/administration, software utilization, hardware requirements, etc.
  • Provide administration and technical support for all additional design tech software, including AutoCAD, ReCap, Adobe Creative Cloud, Bluebeam, Newforma, SketchUp, Speclink, Microsoft 365, etc.
  • Curate online technology resources including MADCAD, ANSI, and other online resources

Position requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working on architectural projects in a professional environment
  • Experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience using, supporting, and managing Autodesk products on architectural projects
  • Autodesk Revit
  • Autodesk AutoCAD & Civil 3D
  • Autodesk Navisworks Manage
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360 Platform
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience with design visualization applications and workflows (Enscape, Twinmotion, Lumion, VR/AR, etc.)
  • Familiar with computational design and scripting applications such as Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino, PyRevit, etc.
  • Autodesk Revit Certified Professional preferred
  • Hands-on working knowledge of design industry workflows, processes, production cycle, and priorities
  • Experience with multiple BIM/CAD roles: training and support mentor, project team member, and strategic leader
  • Preferred experience with the following additional software: Sketchup, Rhino, Bluebeam, Newforma
