PK-12 Education

The impact of thoughtful educational environments extends well beyond the classroom. Placing equal value on well-being and academic learning, we actualize schools and spaces that ignite curiosity, foster exploration, and build community from the inside out.

It starts with people

Designing through the eyes of teachers, students and local communities is a responsibility that we take seriously.  This partnership begins on day one and, much to our joy, often outlasts the actual project. Having been students ourselves, we are authentic listeners, understanding what it feels like when a classroom is too dark, a library too small, or what it can mean to feel unsafe.  Our community-based approach ensures there is space for every voice to be heard and where every idea is valued. Through true consensus building and iteration, solutions for seemingly impossible obstacles are uncovered and opportunities captured.

The pairing of school district, user and community perspectives with our more global learning scape knowledge results in environments that are rooted in local context and school pedagogy while also supporting instruction, exploration, and deep learning in innovative and flexible ways.

I was extremely impressed by the time our team spent in and around Saguache learning about the history, culture and community values of the area. The [Treanor] team worked countless hours with the Design Advisory Group, community, and administration to arrive at a shared vision of creating a state-of-the-art learning facility that adds to the historical significance of Saguache while bridging the gap into the 21st-century and beyond.

Schools stand at the heart of the communities they serve

Schools are fundamentally a part of the story of “place.” Often one of the first public buildings in a new community, they stand witness to the metamorphosis of their surroundings, the generations of families that pass through, and the myriad unique student experiences within. Not only places to learn but also places to gather and celebrate, schools are natural anchor points, reflective of the community values that built them.

When I think of Difference Makers for the Weld RE-5J School District, I think of how [Treanor] has been a Difference Maker for our community through their partnership with us to design school facilities that meet the needs of our students in this ever changing world . . . I believe [Treanor] is a leader among leaders because of not only their expertise, but their abilities to develop strong working relationships in order to design what is optimal for specific purposes within a community.
