BoiseCurtis is doing exactly what he dreamed of growing up: drawing pictures for a living. For more than 30 years, he has enjoyed supporting our team, doing work that helps change lives and create better futures. As a principal and Health studio lead, Curtis is responsible for relationship building with team members, clients, consultants, and contractors who provide places of healing and inspiration for patients, care providers, and staff. Curtis has dedicated most of his career to designing and planning healthcare facilities, and his passion for building long-lasting and meaningful relationships frequently sends him to both urban and rural communities all around the country.
One of his favorite projects is the original Children’s Hospital Colorado Replacement Hospital, where he was responsible for the entire 4th floor, including the NICU, sleep lab, and other departments. This was when NICU unit design evolved from an open bay concept to a private room environment, and he continues to be amazed that architectural design can significantly impact an infant’s development and growth. He seeks projects like these that advance change for the benefit of healthier communities.

What is on your bucket list?
I want to ride the entire Colorado Trail on a mountain bike, travel the country in an airstream, and run a marathon.
What is your advice to young professionals in your field?
Stick with it. Get out into the field to see how the building really goes together.
Always listen and learn and don’t ever believe you are better than those that are building what you have designed.
