What is your favorite building or landmark?

Standing between the two wings of the Salk Institute and watching the southern California light interact with the forms of Kahn’s architecture was unbelievable. It’s incredibly calming to see the concrete forms catch the light while on the plaza that extends out to the ocean.

Whenever I’m in New York City, I love to head to Queens to the Noguchi Museum. The dichotomy between the unassuming exterior in the middle of Queens and the calming museum with simple materials, beautiful sculptures and surprising interior courtyard is perfect.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love traveling and eating out with my family, walking through cities, figuring out the best place for dinner in a new city and enjoying the experience, and wandering in museums.

What is the best part of your job?

I absolutely love the beginning of a project: first meeting the client, hearing their needs, learning what they want, and then translating their practical and lofty goals into a program, narrative, and initial concepts.
