DallasGrowing up in Bucharest, Romania, Andreea was inspired by and fell in love with the historic architecture surrounding her. By age 15, she decided to become an architect and has never looked back.
She worked for over a decade in architectural firms in Cleveland, Chicago, and Austin, both in new construction and historic preservation, before deciding to focus her career on preservation and pursue her Master of Science in Historic Preservation at the University of Texas at Austin. She has passionately worked to preserve, restore, and adaptively reuse historic buildings ever since.
Andreea loves to help bring historic buildings back to life, potentially saving them from demolition. She appreciates preserving them for future generations while supporting the environment. Her experience spans historic preservation, adaptive reuse, architectural history, and sustainable design. She is particularly interested in the inherent sustainability of existing and historic structures.
Andreea dedicates much of her time to volunteering for professional organizations, primarily the Association for Preservation Technology International (APT), AIA Dallas Historic Resources Committee (HRC), and the City of Dallas Designation Committee.

What is on your bucket list?
My first-year history of architecture professor in college in Romania taught her classes using slides/photos that she herself took on her travels and research trips, and she always appeared in photos “for scale.” From ancient Egypt to Italian Baroque, she had seen and experienced first-hand the material she taught, which made her lectures so captivating. Ever since then, traveling the world and seeing all the great works of architecture I have learned about in school has always been on my bucket list. Even though I have been able to see a few, I have barely scratched the surface.
What do you like to do outside of work?
For many years my outside of work activities revolved around my children’s activities, especially youth theater, which heavily relies on parent volunteer support. Now with one child in college and one almost there, I have been able to dedicate a lot more time to volunteering for the professional organizations I have been involved with, primarily APT and AIA Dallas HRC.
