What is your favorite part of your job?

I really enjoy digging deep into a subject, whether it is technical (details and specs of critical justice related conditions) or operational (understanding the flow of intake processing and trial procedures affecting facility design). Sometimes it can be a rabbit hole, but the digging is worth it!

What do you like to do outside of work?

I play frisbee ultimate with one son, and rock climb with another. I like that I can enjoy an activity, get exercise and spend time with my kids in one move! I also like to noodle on the guitar and spend way too much time and money on simple home improvement projects.

What is your advice to young professionals in your field?

Go further. If someone asks you to help them with something, don’t just stop at the completion of the task. Dig deeper, find out why, seek alternative solutions, don’t be afraid to ask questions. You will either make yourself useful beyond the task and enjoy the journey, or find out you don’t like it and know to avoid it in the future!
