Sigma Kappa Sorority at the University of Florida

The University of Florida’s Greek system underwent a significant expansion, and the Beta Tau Housing Corporation of Sigma Kappa enlisted our team to help design their new house with future flexibility in mind. As part of the project, the original two-story building that had served the chapter since the 1950s was torn down to make way for the new house. Our team worked with the housing corporation and local alumna to design a new three-story, 25,300-square-foot sorority house that sleeps 66 members.

The entry foyer’s focal point is a grand staircase with curved risers. The first floor includes a multi-purpose room for dining and chapter meetings, a commercial kitchen, a house director’s suite, a conference room, and a craft room. The second and third floors feature bedrooms, study rooms, shared and suite-style bathrooms, and lounge areas.

The result is a beautiful new house that raised the bar for other Greek organizations on campus, as evidenced by the chapter receiving the City of Gainesville Beautification Award following construction of the new house.
