Position summary

We currently have an internship for a Sustainability Intern for undergraduate students in their final year, as well as graduate students.

As a Sustainability Intern, you will have the opportunity to support the development, implementation, and improvement of our sustainability initiatives across the firm. Your contributions will have a direct impact by supporting our goals in the areas of building performance, health outcomes, and community resilience.

This position will be based in our Kansas City office but you will work collaboratively with studios and team members across the firm.

Primary responsibilities

  • Support local, regional, and national sustainability efforts for project teams across multiple sectors
  • Conduct sustainability research and compile data where relevant
  • Assist team leaders in building performance analysis and high-performance building certifications
  • Assist in developing frameworks for how we gather, analyze, and report data
  • Engage in a variety of sustainably-focused projects to further strengthen and mature our processes

Position requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in an architecture, engineering, or related sustainability degree program
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Familiarity with building performance analysis preferred
  • Familiarity with high-performance building certification rating systems (LEED, WELL, Green Globes, Fitwel) preferred
