Project Architect
Position summary
This individual is a producer and leads the “practice” side of the work. They are responsible for the design, deliverables (drawings and specifications) and the construction administration of the project. This would include coordination of staff and consultants.
This position requires independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. They also lead the technical design aspects of a project including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions.
Portfolios must be submitted for all design positions (Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interiors, etc). Applications without work samples will not be reviewed. Primary responsibilities
- Lead the design, deliverables (drawings and specifications) and the construction administration of assigned projects.
- Coordinate with applicable internal staff and external consultants.
- Perform work requiring independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard construction techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Under the direction of a Project Manager, maintain responsibility for specific technical design aspects of a project including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions.
- Prepare reports and bid documents, including drawings and technical specifications.
- Manage all phases of design throughout project scope, including project set-up, design, and construction administration.
- Maintain day-to-day communications with clients and project consultants.
- Serve as technical point of contact providing interpretation for design and construction teams.
- Responsible for site observations.
- Manage project scheduling, budgets, correspondence, and meetings with clients, contractors, vendors, consultants, building authorities having jurisdiction.
- Provide Studio Principal with regular status updates.
- Ensure projects conform to contract requirements.
- Maintain project records.
- No hire / fire authority.
Position requirements
- Master’s degree in Architecture and a minimum of four years of related experience.
- Must be a Licensed Architect.
- Must have minimum of 4 years of experience with programming, schematic design and conceptualization, sketching, visualization, and design development.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience with client interface from programming through project close out.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience coordinating across teams and collaborating with clients to solve unique and complex challenges.
- Must have experience communicating effectively with clients and mentoring lower-level design professionals.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience working with applicable building codes and zoning regulations to deliver technically sound project documents.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience in assembling construction document set for permit, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, and construction administration experience.
- Must have experience working with the following tools: REVIT, AUTOCAD, Photoshop, Sketchup, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Up to 10% regional travel required.
- Work from Alpharetta office 4 days a week is required. One day of remote work permitted within standard commuting distance from the employer’s Alpharetta, GA office.
