DenverImelda is an architectural designer in Treanor’s PK-12 Education studio, based in our Denver office. With more than a decade of experience designing people-centered, environmentally responsible spaces across India and the U.S., Imelda brings a thoughtful and global perspective to every project she takes on.
Her work spans large-scale urban planning to K–12 education design, with a passion for sustainable architecture and cultural storytelling. One of her most meaningful milestones was designing a school for a rural community within the Navajo Nation—an experience that deepened her belief in architecture’s power to honor identity while shaping the future. Her approach aligns closely with Treanor’s mission to design schools that inspire awe, support whole-child development, and serve as trusted community anchors.
Beyond the studio, Imelda is a joyful creative with a love for fashion, crafting, and self-taught latte art—her designs have even caught the attention of a few celebrity coffee lovers online. She’s also an active volunteer and mentor, supporting programs like Meals on Wheels, Tech Trek, and youth STEAM education festivals.
With a talent for weaving sustainability, community values, and design excellence into the built environment, Imelda is helping us build smarter schools that nurture students and strengthen neighborhoods.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is knowing that the spaces we design can truly make a difference in people’s lives and the broader community. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing the joy on students’ and teachers’ faces at a ribbon cutting, knowing that every little detail we poured into the design is now part of someone’s everyday experience. I love that our work has the power to build dreams, quite literally, and shape places where memories are made.
What is your favorite building or landmark, and why?
My favorite building: the Konark Sun Temple in India. Its intricate design and the engineering marvel of the stone wheels that tell time down to the second never cease to amaze me. My favorite landmark: the Eiffel Tower. It’s incredible how a simple steel structure can evoke so much joy and become such a global symbol of beauty.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I love to travel and explore, always seeking new places to experience unique architecture, vibrant cultures, and diverse cuisines. I also have a creative side—crafting and decorating bring me joy, especially when adding personal touches to special occasions like engagements, weddings, baby showers, and birthday parties. Whether it’s through exploring the world or getting hands-on with a DIY project, I’m always inspired by the beauty and creativity that surround us.
What is an interesting fact not many people know about you?
I got married three times… to the same person, all in one week! A court, a temple, and a church, each ceremony celebrating a part of who we are.
