HoustonAs an architectural designer in Treanor’s Higher Education studio, Zack brings a hands-on perspective and a passion for creating spaces that support learning and community. Based in our Houston office, he contributes to projects with a thoughtful approach shaped by both construction experience and architectural design. As a Houston designer, Zack enjoys collaborating with project teams to develop practical, well-crafted solutions that serve clients and end users alike.
Zack’s path to architecture wasn’t traditional. After high school, he studied engineering while working as a carpenter before spending nearly a decade in construction. When he returned to school, he initially enrolled in Prairie View A&M University’s engineering program but quickly realized architecture was the right fit. He graduated magna cum laude, earned multiple design awards, and served as vice president and president of the university’s National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) student chapter. His work also contributed to the School of Architecture’s accreditation efforts.
Zack values opportunities to create environments that inspire learning while drawing on the practical knowledge he gained through years in the field. Outside the office, he enjoys designing the home his family hopes to build, tackling hands-on construction projects, and sketching whenever he can.
Get to know Zack
What is on your bucket list?
I’d love to travel internationally and one day build my own home.
What do you like to do outside of work?
When I’m not spending time with my wife and our family, I enjoy designing our future home, working on household projects, drawing, and playing basketball whenever I get the chance.
What is your favorite building or landmark?
Lately, I’ve been saying La Sagrada Família in Barcelona. I’m fascinated by how Antoni Gaudí used hanging chains to discover the catenary arch, creating incredibly efficient structural forms that made the basilica’s slender columns possible.
