Centennial Interport Lot 11 Hangar & Office
The beginnings of a vibrant hangar development campus
With rapid corporate growth in the Denver metro area, demand for private hangar space has increased substantially. Businesses from various market sectors are seeking reliable and convenient aircraft storage. Our team designed a new fixed base operations, hangar, and office facility for the SunBorne Companies at Centennial Airport as part of their larger master planning effort for the Interport.
Design for ultimate comfort and connection
This modern facility includes a 23,000-square-foot hangar and maintenance facility, 13,495 square feet of office space, and 2,530 square feet of covered parking for 12 vehicles. With creative and thoughtful planning, we combined simple forms and clean lines with contemporary, durable materials. The result is a high-functioning space that offers a comfortable and exciting work environment while encouraging users to connect to the site and the surroundings.
Making a lasting impression
By understanding the client’s business and larger objectives, our team designed a facility that exceeded current and next-generation needs. Considering the site’s tight configuration, orientation, and proximity to taxiways and runways, we designed the building to embrace these unique challenges. The layout and massing of the 36,000-square-foot integrated office space and hangar responds to its surrounding context with views to the west, natural daylight from the north, and controlled exposures from the south and east.
By placing the hangar on the south end of the site, the remaining two-story office program wraps around the north and east sides of the hangar. This creates opportunities for exciting geometries, high-volume spaces, generous daylight, prime views of the mountains and runways, and various outdoor spaces for employees.
