Nooks Secure Office Renovation
Advancing secure space design
Nooks, a provider of customer-oriented classified spaces, saw an opportunity to further strengthen the local Colorado aerospace and defense market with their turnkey, multi-user approach to sensitive compartmented information facilities (SCIF). The design-build team, comprised of Treanor and Bryan Construction, was selected to bring this idea to fruition through the renovation of a commercial office building into a state-of-the-art, secure, and engaging SCIF.
Upon completion in late 2024, the facility will allow for multiple users to work in various classified spaces (designed to ICD 705 standards), as well as have access to non-classified co-working spaces. Beyond meeting the classified space requirements established by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), Nooks has emphasized the need for these classified spaces to provide superior customer experience.
I have been very pleased with the value and professionalism Nooks has found in our teammates at Treanor. Treanor has been an excellent partner in the design of our flagship location. Nicholas McCormick is a visionary and taskmaster. I’m happy to call him my teammate.

Changing the aerospace/defense industry
This focus on employee satisfaction and commercial approachability is a rarity for SCIFs and will have a lasting impact on the aerospace and defense industry. Our team members have advocated for years the necessity of secure spaces having access to daylight and employee amenities. By collaborating with Nooks stakeholders and leveraging best practices for modern office environments, our team created a secure space that is more reflective of a 21st century office as compared to the traditional SCIF environment.
This client is the one of the only entities authorized to offer this type of multi-user co-working classified space, resulting in countless opportunities for small companies, start-ups, and higher education institutions to begin vital research and work in the name of national security and defense.
