Designing for connection, community, and student success

When Delta Delta Delta at the University of Florida set out to build a new sorority house, they weren’t just looking for a place to live—they were looking for a place to belong. They wanted a house that could reflect their values, support their sisterhood, and elevate the student life experience. Treanor’s Greek Life Housing team partnered with the sorority to design a home that would do all that and more, and the result is a 23,585-square-foot Neoclassical plantation-style residence that blends timeless architectural character with forward-thinking design.

A home that honors tradition and embraces the future

The Delta Delta Delta Sorority House is both a residence and a living-learning environment that supports student success and fosters meaningful connections. With 27 bedrooms and space for 72 live-in members, the house balances privacy and community, study and socialization, and elegance and utility.

We approached the design with precision and purpose, creating distinct zones for educational, residential, and communal use. Public spaces are warm and welcoming, ideal for hosting events and engaging alumni. Semi-private areas offer room for collaboration and casual gathering. Private spaces are thoughtfully designed for rest, reflection, and academic focus.

Technology plays a key role in enhancing residence life, and this was one of the first Greek facilities in the country to implement fingerprint reader access control, solving the age-old problem of lost keys and cards while improving security. A remote digital control system manages temperature and humidity, optimizing comfort and energy efficiency in a more readily accessible way.

A lasting impact on campus and community

The house has earned several accolades, including the Gainesville Florida Beautification Award and recognition as a Project of Distinction in the American School & University Architectural Portfolio. Its true impact is recognized in the everyday lives of its student residents who now have a place that supports their academic journey, nurtures their leadership, and celebrates their sisterhood.

By investing in thoughtful design, Delta Delta Delta has created a home that generates long-term value. It enhances recruitment, supports retention, and contributes to the university’s broader goals for student success. It’s a place where students thrive and where the story of their college experience is written in every detail.
