Charming Greek revival with modern amenities

Gamma Phi Beta’s new home on the University of Florida’s campus represents both a continuation of tradition and a leap toward modern sorority living. Built on land previously occupied by three small residences at the end of West Panhellenic Drive, the project sits in a prime location on sorority row—right in the heart of the thriving Greek community.

Treanor’s Greek Life Housing team designed a three-story, 23,700-square-foot home that balances classic architectural character with functionality and comfort for 71 members.

This classic Greek Revival home captures the essence of Gamma Phi Beta’s legacy with a four-column, two-story front entry porch that provides a stately setting for recruitment events and gatherings. A side-entry porch connects to a small parking lot for everyday use, while an L-shaped rear porch defines two sides of a private courtyard overlooking a creek.

Balancing practical needs with sorority pride

The courtyard’s paving subtly incorporates Gamma Phi Beta’s iconic crescent moon symbol, a detail that celebrates the organization’s identity and provides a touch of personalization that members immediately recognize and cherish.

Practical campus needs were also addressed. Seventeen on-site parking spaces and 36 dedicated bike and scooter spots are available. The house accommodates 71 members in 34 sleeping rooms, designed to balance privacy with a sense of shared living. The dining room, a central hub for daily connections, seats 180 for meals and expands to host up to 285 members for chapter meetings.

Dedicated study spaces—both open and enclosed—give members flexibility for individual focus or group collaboration. A sign painting and craft room provides a creative outlet that’s as practical as it is beloved in Greek life, making it easy for members to prepare for campus events or express chapter pride.

For Gamma Phi Beta, this house is more than a place to live—it’s a reflection of sisterhood, scholarship, and growth. The design supports sorority life, from early-morning study sessions to late-night laughter on the porch. Every space was created to foster connection, belonging, and pride of place.

By blending historic character with forward-thinking design, Treanor helped the chapter create a home that feels both classic and contemporary.
